Doug Sparks joined YWAM in 1970. He established successful global efforts for Youth with a Mission during his 50 years of serving and leading in YWAM. For 15 years, Doug pioneered the establishment of YWAM in the Middle East. He worked in Hawaii to help launch the University of the Nations, led the base in Lausanne, Switzerland, and partnered with YWAM New Zealand to build a groundbreaking family resource facility in Vanuatua. Doug has also worked for Mercy Ships. Most recently, Doug helped YWAM New Zealand with the refit of their ship, the M/V Pacific Hope. In 2018, the Pacific Hope relocated to the Caribbean and Doug’s leadership helped transition the vessel across the globe. Doug lives in Colorado with his wife Candy.

Lee Mason is a native of Athens who graduated from Clarke Central High School in 1980 and then from the University of Georgia in 1984 with a Bachelor of Business Administration In Economics. After college, Lee began ministering full-time to college students. In 1990 he married his wife Lisa and together they began a ministry at UGA called Bulldog Christian Fellowship. From 1999-2007 he served on staff as the Director of Young Adult Ministries at Church of the Apostles in Atlanta. In 2007 he and his family moved from Atlanta back to Athens to birth Classic City Church. In the past 12 years it has grown to a congregation of over 800 people that reaches 1000’s of college students. Lee earned a Masters in Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary and a Doctorate from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Lee and Lisa are the proud parents of two terrific men: Daniel and Zander.

Christine Lucerne completed her studies at the ‘University of Music and Performing Arts’ in Graz, Austria majoring in Classical Guitar, Recorder and Early Music with a postgraduate performance degree. As a young student she felt a strong call to missions and shortly after graduating she joined YWAM Austria together with her husband Robert. Christine has been serving in YWAM now for over 30 years. After three initial years engaging in YWAM Austria’s refugee ministries and outreaches throughout eastern Europe Christine and Robert moved to Australia and pioneered the YWAM base in Tasmania. Christine’s main role involved: establishing the DTS on the Tasmanian Campus, leading Training courses, lecturing, and mentoring DTS leaders. They have been ministering together on Discipleship Training Schools mostly in Australia and the Asia pacific region. The number of times Christine has led worship must run to well over a thousand, with the settings ranging from the very traditional to the ‘most unusual’. During the last two years Christine and Rob were serving on the northern Thai border mentoring young Myanmar leaders.

John Mark Wheeler has been serving full time with YWAM for over 7 years. In that time he has traveled around the world serving mission initiatives in 63 nations. For the past 5 years John Mark has been serving with Port YWAM, Kona Hawaii and has served on 7 different YWAM vessels in 4 continents. Since 2017 he has been leading the July quarter DiscipleshipTraining School, and is part of the DTS Leadership team at the base.

 Candy comes with a broad range of experience in missions, education, and legal services. Candy has lived in Egypt, Cyprus and Switzerland as well as Ohio, Hawaii, Texas and Colorado. She combines twenty years of overseas mission work in developing countries with years of experience in the field of education as an instructor, consultant, and manager of educational systems.  She has been married to Doug for 47 years, and they have three married children and eight grandchildren.  Currently, Candy serves as the executive director of the Crowell Trust, a philanthropy started in 1927 by Henry Parson Crowell, the founder of Quaker Oats.

Paul & Christie Borthwick are devoted followers of Jesus Christ. More than 40 years ago, they both committed themselves to God’s global mission at the Urbana Student Mission Convention. Paul and Christie’s journey together has included successful careers of clinical microbiology for Christie, and collegiate teaching and authorship for Paul. The couple has traveled the world together ministering to nearly 100 countries and serving as leaders in church communities. Christie currently serves as a spiritual director and Paul facilitates leadership training with Development Associates International.

Kathy B. Carnahan, M.A., LPC has specialized in career management, coaching, performance improvement, and psychotherapy for 30 years. She has an in-depth understanding of the Enneagram, having trained and mentee’d under expert Dr. Jim Jonnell of the Jonnell Institute. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor by the state of Colorado and will be guiding you through your enneagram providing better understanding of yourself and connection with God!

As Chief Executive Officer and President of the CCO, Vince Burens has led the effort in the CCO becoming a national organization, ministering to students and serving churches at over 140 colleges and universities throughout the United States as well as in Southeast Asia. 

 Vince’s involvement with the CCO began his freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh where he experienced a Christian faith that connected to every area of his life. Shortly after finishing his undergraduate degree, he began an outreach to students with a focus on student athletes. In the years following, Vince served in organizational leadership by overseeing the growth of the Jubilee Conference as well as the training, events, recruiting, and staff services departments. Prior to becoming President in 2016, he served for eight years as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Vince’s greatest joy in life is his wife, Lori, and their daughters, Mia and Tessa.
