Discipleship Training School (YWAM DTS) is a six-month missions training experience that empowers you to live passionately and change the world by knowing God personally and making him known to others.
The school consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase. In the lecture phase, you will learn more about God and His purpose for you, not only from teachings but also from community living and practical training. The outreach phase focuses on applying what you learned in the classroom through an intense, cross-cultural experience.
The DTS also gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and explore how to use them in God’s purpose for the world. The Divemaster DTS focuses on professional development, outdoor leadership, and underwater adventures, and environmental conservation as a way of creating capable, independent, and educated world-changers.
During the lecture phase, students, leaders, and crew live on the Next Wave vessel, a 132-foot (42 meter) sailboat in the Caribbean. The group will be engaged in dive courses, starting with the introductory Open Water Course, all the way up to the professional level Divemaster course. Throughout these few months, students will work with local PADI dive instructors to obtain their certifications, make 60+ dives all throughout the Caribbean — including deep water dives, night dives, and reef clean-up dives — and learn about living within a community, sailing, and ocean conservation along the way.
